Ilse Koch
Ilse obtained her BIuris LLB degree at the University of the Orange Free State.
She started her career in 1990 with the Master of the Supreme Court in Cape Town, where she worked for six years. After placing her professional career on ice because of family obligations, she grabbed the opportunity to restart her career by accepting a position with PwC Stellenbosch in 2005. She worked with Hennes in the estate division of PwC, until she tackled the challenge at Voogdy Trust with Hennes and Jacoba in July 2012.
Ilse took over the reins as managing director of Voogdy Trust from Hennes in May 2022. She serves as trustee on various trusts, with the mandate of accomplishing and bridging the continuity between generations and managing wealth.

Jacoba Alberts
Jacoba studied at Stellenbosch University, where she obtained her BCom (Law) degree in 1999 and her LLB degree in 2001. She then commenced her career at the estate division of PwC Stellenbosch.
In 2005 she continued her studies and obtained her LLM degree in 2006 through UNISA, where she studied part-time. After 10 years at PwC she joined Hennes and Voogdy Trust together with Ilse in 2012.
Jacoba Alberts
Jacoba studied at Stellenbosch University, where she obtained her BCom (Law) degree in 1999 and her LLB degree in 2001. She then commenced her career at the estate division of PwC Stellenbosch.
In 2005 she continued her studies and obtained her LLM degree in 2006 through UNISA, where she studied part-time. After 10 years at PwC she joined Hennes and Voogdy Trust together with Ilse in 2012.
Batjah Nel
Batjah completed her BCom (Law) degree in 2004 and her LLB degree in 2011 through Unisa while working full-time for law firms in Sannieshof, Pretoria and Bloemfontein.
She was admitted as attorney in 2011, as conveyancer in 2018 and as notary public in 2019. She completed her articles in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal, and was then employed by Elliot & Walker Attorneys in Kokstad. Batjah was a partner in the law practice from 1 March 2012 to 31 December 2023, when she and her family moved to Paarl. She administered the firm’s estate division. Batjah joined Voogdy Trust on 1 September 2024.
Batjah Nel
Batjah completed her BCom (Law) degree in 2004 and her LLB degree in 2011 through Unisa while working full-time for law firms in Sannieshof, Pretoria and Bloemfontein.
She was admitted as attorney in 2011, as conveyancer in 2018 and as notary public in 2019. She completed her articles in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal, and was then employed by Elliot & Walker Attorneys in Kokstad. Anja Venter
Anja studied at the University of Pretoria, where she obtained a degree in Music and Psychology in 2017. Her sharp eye for administration and extraordinary attention to detail led her to her career as legal assistant.
She gained experience as administrator of deceased estates and deeds secretary in Pretoria. Anja’s passion for administrative work and her love of the field of law led her to the Voogdy Trust team in May 2024 to do their estate administration.

Esmerelda joined our team in August 2024 and occupies the position of office manager. She obtained a Secretarial Diploma at Boland College in Paarl in 2000, after which she initially worked as administrative officer and later accepted a position as debtors clerk with a prominent law firm in Paarl. Her organisational abilities and exceptional interpersonal relationships are very valuable to Voogdy Trust.

Bouwe Wiersma
Bouwe obtained his BCom (Law) LLB degree from the North-West University (Pukke). He completed his articles of clerkship in Paarl and was admitted as an Attorney and Notary in 2024.
Following the completion of his articles, Bouwe gained experience in commercial law, trust law, estate planning, tax law, and commercial litigation, with professional exposure in both Paarl and Cape Town.
In 2026, he registered as a tax practitioner and is set to complete his MCom degree in Taxation at Stellenbosch University in 2026.

Following the completion of his articles, Bouwe gained experience in commercial law, trust law, estate planning, tax law, and commercial litigation, with professional exposure in both Paarl and Cape Town.
In 2026, he registered as a tax practitioner and is set to complete his MCom degree in Taxation at Stellenbosch University in 2026.
Chané van Zyl
Chané obtained her LLB degree from the North-West University, Potchefstroom, in 2023.
Upon completion of her studies, she commenced her articles at a law firm in George, where she gained valuable practical exposure across a broad spectrum of legal fields. During this period, she developed a particular interest in the administration of deceased estates.
She has been an admitted attorney since 2025 and possesses a comprehensive understanding of estate administration. Chané conducts her work with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism, along with a strong emphasis on the efficient and timeous finalisation of matters.

Hennes Louw
Hennes will always be remembered as the patriach of the undertaking. He gladly shared his knowledge and experience of more than 30 years in estate advisory services not only with his colleagues at Voogdy Trust, but also with his colleagues in the rest of the industry.
Hennes had a special insight into human nature and the ability to defuse the most explosive family situations with his sense of humour and flair.
He leaves deep footprints in the hearts of clients and colleagues.
